Route Features
Due to the change of direction in Monchengladbach, the express stop at the Monchengladbach station is 10 minutes.
Since RE13 connects Germany with the bordering Dutch city of Venlo, it provides an opportunity for the illegal import into Germany of light drugs purchased in coffee shops . Therefore, the Meuse-Wupper-Express is often called the “Express Marijuana Smokers” [2] . In order to combat the illegal export of drugs on the express, customs checks are regularly conducted.
