British Aerospace ATP - British turboprop airliner for short and medium lines. It was developed on the basis of the Hawker Siddeley HS 748 aircraft and was mass-produced by British Aerospace in 1988β1996; 64 aircraft were produced in total. Available in passenger and cargo versions. The reason for the cessation of production was the impossibility of successful competition with the existing class of machines of the same class - de Havilland Canada Dash 8 and ATR 42 .

Development
The aircraft was developed on the basis of the HS 748 model and, in fact, is its deep processing. The fuselage length was increased to 26.01 m, the wingspan - up to 30.62 m, the configuration of the bow and tail. New Pratt & Whitney Canada PW126 turboprop engines with Hamilton Standard low-speed six-blade propellers installed.
The first flight of the prototype was completed in 1986. The aircraft showed good takeoff and landing characteristics, including in relatively short runways. Noisiness of the aircraft on the regime of large gas was also moderate. In 1988, the aircraft entered the British lines.
Operation
As of November 2011, 40 ATP aircraft were in operation (airline and number of aircraft indicated): West Air Sweden (12), Atlantic Airlines (12), NextJet Sweden (4), Deraya (2) and Air Go Airlines (1) . Most cars are operated in a cargo configuration. The only airline operating the passenger option is NextJet Sweden.
