The surface is flat, slightly inclined from the foothills of the Carpathians to the south-west. The lowland is drained by the river Tisza and its tributaries - Borzhava , Latoritsa , Uzhim . The soils are mainly soddy (podzolized and gleyed) and alluvial , in some places meadow - bog soils . A significant part of the territory is plowed and occupied by crops of cereals ( wheat , corn ) and industrial crops ( sunflower , tobacco ), as well as orchards and vineyards . In some places there are small groves of oak - hornbeam forests .
