Evans, Dainis

Dainis Ivans ( Latvian. Dainis Īvāns ; September 25, 1955 , Madona ) - Latvian politician, Soviet and Latvian journalist. He gained fame in 1986 by the struggle against the construction of the Daugavpils hydroelectric station . The delegate of the XIX Conference of the CPSU. The first chairman of the Popular Front of Latvia (1988-1990), later - a member (since 1998) and chairman (2002-2005) of the LSDLP .
