Nicolas Zourabichvili , also Nikolai Zourabichvili ( fr. Nicolas Zourabichvili , October 27, 1936 , Paris ) is a French composer of Georgian origin.

Biography
The son of the former minister of the government of the Georgian Democratic Republic ( 1920–1921 ) Georgy Zurabishvili ( 1898–1944 , died under unclear circumstances), the brother of the famous French Sovietologist Helene Carrer d'Ankoss . The father of the philosopher Francois Zurabishvili ( 1965 - 2006 , committed suicide), the uncle of the writer and director Emmanuel Carrer .
He studied at the Conservatory of Bordeaux ( 1946 - 1948 ). Then he graduated from the Sorbonne in the Department of Russian Studies, in parallel studied the composition from Nadia Boulanger , then from Max Deutsch . He taught Russian at the National Center for Distance Learning ( 1970 - 1997 ), headed the Russian Conservatory named after Sergei Rakhmaninov ( 1986 - 1988 ) in Paris. He published together with Francie Baye a complete translation of Mussorgsky's correspondence (published 2001 ).
Creativity
He is the author of a number of symphonic ( Mtskheta , Seven Days) and chamber works (Aus ödem Traumland, Suzdal). He owns the Mass ( 1976 ), piano sonata, "Tren after Thelonius Monku " for piano ( 1983 ), "La Fuite" for violin solo ( 1987 ) and other works. Nicolas Zurabishvili is a well-known film composer, he wrote music for all Otar Ioseliani films, starting with the movie Favorites of the Moon ( 1984 ), to the documentary of Emmanuel Carrera Return to Kotelnich ( 2003 ).
