Bembya (Bem) Okunovich Dzhimbinov (November 22, 1914 , Kerdata , Bolshederbetovsky Ulus (today - Amur-Sanan settlement, Gorodovik District , Kalmykia ), Stavropol Gubernia , Russian Empire - 1986, Elista , Kalmyk ASSR ) - Kalmyk Soviet writer, historian, orientalist, people's poet of the Kalmyk ASSR (1985).

Biography

Bembya Dzhimbinov was born in 1914 in the village of Kerdat of the Bolshederbetovsky ulus of the Stavropol province .

After graduating from high school in Iki-Chonos, he worked in the editorial staff of the district newspaper Lenin Mura (Leninsky Way). Later he was hired by the republican newspaper " Ulan Halmg " (Red Kalmyk).

Since the autumn of 1935, Bembya Dzhimbinov studied in Moscow at the Pravda All-Union Institute of Journalism, after which he worked in the Soviet Information Bureau , the editorial board of the Novoye Vremya journal. In Moscow, his son Stanislav Dzhimbinov was born - the future Russian literary critic.

In 1944, during the deportation of the Kalmyks, he was exiled to Siberia .

Returning to Kalmykia in 1956 , Bembya Dzhimbinov began working as secretary of the Kalmyk regional committee of the CPSU (1956-59), chairman of the Writers' Union of Kalmykia.

In the autumn of 1959 he entered the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU. In 1961 he defended his thesis candidate of historical sciences. He worked as a senior employee of the Institute of Asian Nations of the USSR Academy of Sciences .

He was buried at the Donskoy Cemetery in Moscow. An urn with ashes buried in a columbar 1A, section 14-15 (bottom row)

Creativity

The first collection of poems in Russian, The Friend of the Steppes, was published in Elista in 1959. An incorruptible star was published in Kalmyk in 1962.

He published poems and stories in the Kalmyk literary magazine Teegin Girl and the republican Kalmyk press.

Bemba Dzhimbinov made numerous business trips to various Asian countries, after which he wrote poems dedicated to these countries.
