A washing and disinfecting car is a type of non-self-propelled railway rolling stock, designed for mass sanitary treatment of people in extreme circumstances - war or a major catastrophe , making it impossible to use conventional heat and water supply systems. The use of such cars (as well as laundry cars ) eliminates the massive spread of epidemic diseases (primarily typhoid ), in the field it serves as a means of personal hygiene . Modern wagons of this type also allow for the disinfection of clothing and uniforms.
The washing and disinfection car includes a locker room, a disinfection chamber, a shower compartment, and a hairdresser. The design provides for an autonomous water supply and heat supply system ( steam boiler , boiler ). It is operated, as a rule, as part of a bath-laundry-disinfection train.
In Russia, the manufacturer of washing and disinfection wagons is the Tver Carriage Building Plant .
