Reinhold was a student of Jacob Milich at the University of Wittenberg . In 1536, Mr .. became a professor of mathematics at the same university. Died of the plague. Convinced Copernican. R., due to pressure from his colleagues, especially Luther and Melanchthon , who considered the new doctrine to be nonsense, had to expound the Ptolemy system. Published in 1542 the works of Purbach and Sacrobosco . In 1554, he calculated the trigonometric tables “Tabulae directionum”, where tangents are given every minute. Reinhold’s most important work is the table of planetary motions (“ Prussian tables ”) compiled on the basis of Copernican theory and named in honor of Albrecht of Prussia , or perhaps in honor of the homeland of Copernicus (Thorn in Prussia) “Tabulae prutenicae coelestium motuum 1551”. They were the best until the advent of the Rudolfin Kepler tables .
In honor of Reinhold, a crater on the Moon is located, located in the south-south-west of the crater of Copernicus in the Sea of Islands .
