About the album
In Absentia is considered by many to be her great achievement. All songs were written by Stephen Wilson , except for “Wedding Nails” (Wilson / Burbury ) and “Strip the Soul” (Wilson / Edwin ).
Conceptual Album
Although the group never claimed to be a concept album , many fans view this album as a holistic narrative of madness and murder, set out as a story about a particular person, about his childhood and marriage, as evidenced by the lyrics of the album. Stephen Wilson does not particularly like to interpret his ambiguous and not always clear texts. According to him, the album’s lyrics should not be understood as a literal description of killers, child rapists and other unpleasant characters - the lyrics are much more subjective and their understanding is very dependent on the listener. For example, the text of the song “Gravity Eyelids” could be associated with the concept of the album, but Stephen Wilson says that it was written “about an evening by the Dead Sea”.
