Sergei Petrovich Kolomnin ( 1842 - 1886 ) - Russian surgeon , since 1879 - professor of surgery at the Imperial Medical and Surgical Academy in St. Petersburg .

Biography
Born in St. Petersburg in a noble family . He graduated from the Arkhangelsk gymnasium. In 1865 he graduated from the Imperial Medical and Surgical Academy with a doctor’s degree and a silver medal, after which he was appointed resident of the 1st Hospital Surgical Clinic. In 1869 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine.
During the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878 he was a surgical consultant of the Red Cross Society . He was awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 3rd degree with swords in 1877 and the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree in 1878.
S.P. Kolomnin was the first in the world to apply intra-arterial blood transfusion to wounded on the battlefield. Based on the results of participation in the war, he wrote “A General Medical Essay on the Serbian-Turkish War of 1876 and the rear of the army in Romania and Bessarabia during the Turkish War of 1877. Issue. I and II ”(1878).
He was a member of the Society of Russian Doctors in St. Petersburg since 1870, the Society of Doctors in Kiev since 1873 and the Surgical Society of N.I. Pirogov in St. Petersburg since 1883.
He was shot after an unsuccessful operation (the death of the patient, according to S.P. Kolomnin, was an overdose of cocaine , used for anesthesia ).
He was buried in St. Petersburg at the Novodevichy Cemetery [1] .
