Biography
Member of the Second World War.
In 1948 he graduated from the University of Auckland Law School and took up private practice.
- 1969-1980 - judge of the Supreme Court,
- 1980-1985 - Governor General of New Zealand. He was criticized for buying two Mercedes cars at the end of his tenure (the governor-general was exempted from paying duties). He was also an active participant in the 1984 political crisis.
He also headed the country's national Olympic Committee for 11 years. Awarded the Olympic Order. In 1989, he was chairman of the organizing committee of the Commonwealth Games.
