Tokhtasiev, Sergey Remirovich

In 1980 he graduated from the Faculty of History of Leningrad State University in the Department of the History of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome ^[3] . He has more than 130 publications on the topic of antiquity and Iranian studies ^[4] .

Based on the analysis of written sources about the Cimmerians and the historiography of the issue, S. R. Tokhtasiev questioned the hypothesis that this people really lived in the Bosporus of Cimmeria and others, appropriately named place names ^[5] .

S.R. Tokhtasiev is the head of a new edition of the Bosporus Codex of Ancient Inscriptions (IOSPE. II, ed. 3), which is being prepared in St. Petersburg, and has written about two dozen articles concerning this task.

In the collective work “The Code of Ancient Information about the Slavs” (1991) Tokhtasiev provided an interpretation of the most important information about the first Slavs. In the publication "Fundamentals of Balkan Linguistics" -2 (1998) Tokhtasiev wrote the chapter "The oldest evidence of the Slavic language in the Balkans."

Continuing work on the ethnic history of Eastern Europe from ancient times to our time, Tokhtasiev wrote more than 20 articles, where he analyzed dozens of Sarmatian names.

Even earlier, in 2005, he thoroughly considered the problem of the Scythian language .
