History
Lipovka was founded at the beginning of the 15th century. Four times the Tatars destroyed and burned the village.
In 1570, by royal decree, the nobleman Jan Firlei was allowed to lay the town of Firlei on the soil of the village of Matejevica.
In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Firlea was a small town; pottery was developed here. Great damage to the economy and population of the town in 1828 was caused by fire and locusts, and in 1831 and 1855 - cholera. The village is mentioned in the Book of Fairs on p. 183.
Famous People
- For many years he served as a parish priest in the village and Benedict Khmelevsky , a Polish writer, author of the first Polish encyclopedia Nowe Ateny (Russian “New Athens”) (1754-1764) died.
- Michal Wisniewski , a Polish writer and politician, was born in the village.
