Career
He served in the Royal Infantry of Great Britain in World War II.
He began his playing career at the Brighton & Hove Albion club. Since 1949 - at Chelsea, for which he spent 221 matches. In 1955, as part of the Londoners, for the first time in the history of the club, he won the championship of England. In 1956 he moved to Leighton Orient for only £ 2 thousand.
