Sakhnov, Vladimir Nikolaevich

Vladimir Sakhnov (born April 25, 1961 ) is a Soviet skier , vice-champion of the 1988 Olympic Games and 1987 World Cup, international master of sports of the USSR , honored coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan . Originally from the village of Kamenka, near the village of Balkashino , now the Sandyktau region of the Akmola region of Kazakhstan . He began to engage in professional sports in Shchuchinsk with coach Smagin Albert Pavlovich.

Sports career

The best achievement of Vladimir Sakhnov is the silver medal of the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary in the relay. He also participated in the 1984 Olympics , where he showed 4 results in a 30 km race.

At the 1987 World Championships in Oberstdorf, he also became a silver medalist in the 4 × 10 km relay race. The best result in personal races: 6th place at a distance of 50 km in 1987 in the same place in Oberstdorf .

Biography

After completing his sports career, Sakhnov worked as a ski racing coach in his native Kazakhstan , in 1993-1999 and in 2012-2015 he was the head coach of the national skiing team of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Interesting Facts

In the athlete’s homeland (the regional center of Balkashino), the "White Marathon" dedicated to Vladimir Sakhnov is held annually. It is a cross-country skiing competition for all age groups (from children to veterans).
