Surigao ( born Surigao Strait ) is a strait in the Philippine archipelago that connects the Mindanao Sea with the Pacific Ocean .

The length of the strait is about 100 km, the smallest width - 22 km. The average depths are 25–54 m, in the south-west the depth reaches 1000 m. The currents are directed to the west and south-west, their speed reaches 50 cm / s. Port - Surigao ( Mindanao Island). In the northeast is in contact with the gulf of Leyte .
