All settlements of the community, including Kalnik, are located on the southern slopes of the hilly ridge Kalnik near the border with Varazdinsky County . The city of Varazdinsk-Toplice is 10 km to the north (there is no direct road, since the Kalnik ridge runs here), 15 km to the southeast - Krizhevtsy , 25 km to the east - Koprivnitsa .
To the north of the village of Kalnik at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level are the ruins of the Veliki Kalnik fortress, built in the XIII century during the time of King Bela IV . A road leads from the village to the fortress. The parish church of St. Brck (Crkva sv. Brcka) with Gothic and Baroque elements, built in the 14th century and rebuilt several times until the 19th century, has been preserved in the village itself.
