Kalnik ( Croatian. Kalnik ) is a hilly ridge in the Croatian Zagorje , in the north of Croatia , in the Varazdinsky and Koprivnitsky-Krizhevatsky districts .
Geography
The ridge is oriented from the southwest to the northeast. At the southwestern tip adjoins the Ivanschitsa ridge, along the pass between Ivanschitsa and Kalnik, near the city of Novi Marof, the A4 motorway is laid. The northeastern tip of Kalnik is located between the cities of Ludbreg and Koprivnica , Kalinik here passes into the low-lying Podravinsky plain . To the west of the ridge is the city of Novi Marof , to the north - Varazdinsk-Toplice and Ludbreg , to the east - Koprivnica .
The slopes of the Kalinik hills are largely covered by forest, the basis of which is beech and oak . Trails for tourists are laid in the massif.

At the top of Vranilac is a television broadcasting tower. To the north of the village of Kalnik at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level are the ruins of the Veliki Kalnik fortress, built in the XIII century during the time of King Bela IV .
