Rica de Caraman ( fr. Riquet de Caraman ) is a noble family in France and Belgium, derived from Florentine Ghibellin Arrighetti who moved to Provence (1268), whose offspring was divided into two branches: Rickett (of which Mirabeau was famous) and Riquet ( Riquet) ), received in the XVII century title of Counts Caraman ( comte de Caraman ). Of the latter, the most famous are:
- Pierre-Paul , from 1667 to 1681, who built the Languedoc Canal ;
- Victor-Maurice (1727-1807), who distinguished himself during the Seven Years War; during the revolution he emigrated and commanded one of the conde detachments;
- Victor-Louis-Charles (1762–1839), the first duke of Karaman, left memoirs, some of which were published in the Journal des Débats (1841, June);
- Victor-Marie-Joseph-Louis (1786-1837), author of works on the organization of military affairs in Prussia and other countries;
- Victor-Antoine-Charles (1810–1868), author of works on the history of philosophy in France;
- Louise de Karaman-Shime (1837–1890), daughter of Prince княime , pianist and music critic;
- Elizabeth de Karaman-Shime (1860-1952), the niece of the previous one, the mistress of the grand salon of the " beautiful era ".
