Career

Milan

Brian Cristante is a graduate of Milan . At first he played in Primavera, then was transferred to the main team. For Milan, the 16-year-old Brian made his debut on December 6, 2011 in the match of the 6th round of the Champions League against Victoria from Pilsen, replacing Robinho in the 81st minute [2] . In 2013, Cristante helped the youth team of Milan reach the final of the Viareggio tournament , and he himself was recognized as the best player of the tournament [3] .

On November 10, 2013, Kristante made his debut in Serie A in a game against Chievo , replacing him in the 85th minute instead of Kaka . The match ended in a draw 0-0. On January 6, 2014, he scored his first goal in Serie A's home game against Atalanta , which ended in a 3-0 victory for AC Milan. In total, “Brian” played three matches for “Milan” in the Italian championship, but this was enough to demonstrate a good technical level and physical maturity. The Italian media called Kristante the most promising pupil of “Milan” in recent years; great interest was shown by other clubs to the young player [3] .

September 1, 2014 for 6 million euros Kristante moved to Benfica . Vice President of Milan Adriano Galliani explained the decision of the club to sell a promising player by the desire of Briand to leave the Milan team because of the high competition in his position. According to Galliani, Cristante refused the offer of the club management to rent it to one of the Italian teams because of his unwillingness to play in the Italian championship against his native Milan [3] .

Benfica and Leases

On September 12, 2014, Cristante made his debut as a member of Benfica, substituting for the Portuguese Championship match against Vitoria . But Brian did not manage to gain a foothold in the Portuguese club. For a year and a half in Benfica, he played only seven matches in the Portuguese championship and only in one of them left in the starting lineup [3] . More regularly, he played for the team in the Portuguese League Cup , which helped Benfica win in the 2014/2015 season. In the same season, Cristante became the champion of Portugal, although he played only five matches in the league. In the 2015/16 season, Briand played even less frequently, playing only 4 minutes in the national championship [4] .

In January 2016, Cristante returned to Italy as a Palermo player, to whom he was leased for a period of six months with the possibility of redemption for 6 million euros [5] . Unable to prove himself in the new place, Briand spent most of the lease period in reserve, having played for six months in only four matches. In July 2016, Kristante again went on loan home, this time to Pescara [6] , where he played regularly, having played 16 matches in Serie A. In January 2017, Brian went on loan to Italy for the third time in a row. Until the end of the season, Atalanta leased it, having agreed with Benfica the amount of the buyback of the player’s contract in the amount of 4 million euros [7] .

In national teams

Until 2011, Kristante played for the youth national team of Italy until the age of 16, then he was a player in the teams under 17, before 18, before 19, before 20 and under 21. In total, Briand played over thirty matches for youth and youth teams.
