History
After World War II and its socio-economic consequences, disagreements and strikes intensified in different parts of the country, this pressure forced the government of Prime Minister Ahmad Kawam to create an independent service, the "Main Directorate of Labor" in the department of the Ministry of Professions and Arts in 1944. This could not solve the existing problems, so they came to the conclusion that in order to overcome the problems, they must pass a law on labor law. The first Labor law was approved by the cabinet (but was not approved by parliament) on May 18, 1946 in a special situation where strikes began to take on a political aspect. The inability of the General Directorate of Labor to overcome difficulties and other reasons led to the formation of the Ministry of Labor and Advertising on August 4, 1946. Later it became the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and after the Iranian revolution of 1979, many related organizations joined it. The ministry was dissolved on August 3, 2011.
