Serek-Kul [3] is a reservoir in the Baymak district [3] at the source of the Tanalyk River. Formed by a dam at the western tip of Lake Sarykul [1] [2] .

The construction of the reservoir began in the summer of 2006 and is underway by the Federal State Institution “Management Bashmeliovodkhoz”, the expected reservoir volume is 18 million m³ [4] . As of March 23, 2015, the reservoir has not been commissioned [3] .
The water surface area is 250 ha, the volume is 9.8 million m³ [3] . The hydraulic structures of the reservoir belong to hazard class IV [3] [5] .
It is located at an altitude of 520 meters above sea level in the foothills of the Arendyk near the Saktau [1] [6] ridge at the junction of the borders of the Bekeshevsky , Meryasovsky and Nigamatovsky village councils, 5 km southeast of Lake Talkas [7] [2] .
On November 11, 2006, the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan M. G. Rakhimov visited the construction of the reservoir [4] .

I am more concerned about the name of the future reservoir. With what pride in the future it will be possible to advertise a lake with an initially tarnished reputation. After all, Serek-Kul is translated as a rotten lake. In determining the name of the future "baby", one should approach this matter responsibly, taking into account the geography, history and future purpose of the reservoir. No wonder they say that the name determines the fate of the child. This truth, I think, can be applied to the lake.
