Biography
In 1956 he graduated from the Faculty of History of Leningrad University . After that, he constantly lived and worked in Leningrad (St. Petersburg).
Since 1957, an employee of the State Public Library. M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin .
Since 1960, editor of the new Leningrad publishing house " Artist of the RSFSR ."
In 1969 - 1979 - artistic editor of the Leningrad branch of the publishing house " Art ".
He is engaged in the history of Russian and Soviet book art of the XX century. He most fruitfully studies the activities of the World of Art , Futurists , the Petrograd Design School and Leningrad artists of the children's book of the 1920s and 1930s.
In his works, he substantiates the revival of the principles of synthetic book graphics and the transition from the normative system of book design to functionally determined.
