History
Franklin County was formed in 1867 and received its official name in honor of Benjamin Franklin .

According to the 2000 census [1] , 3,574 people lived in Franklin County, 1,021 families, there were 1,485 households and 1,746 residential buildings. The average population density was about two people per square kilometer. The racial composition of the district according to the census was as follows: 99.24% White , 0.28% Native American , 0.06% Asian , 0.34% mixed races, 0.08% other ethnic groups. Hispanic and Latin American made up 0.64% of all residents in the county.
Out of 1,485 households in 28.60% brought up children under the age of 18, 59.40% were married couples living together, in 6.00% of families, women lived without their husbands, 31.20% had no families. 29.20% of the total number of families at the time of the census lived on their own, while 16.00% were single elderly people aged 65 and over.
