History

The village was formed in the early XVIII - mid XIX century .

Name Origin

There are 2 versions of the origin of the name of the village "Chistenky" :

  • During a trip to the lands of the Saratov province, Emperor Peter I saw a settlement, but it was very polluted. Then he said: "What a shame! What a dirty village!" And then he began to be called Gryaznenky. After some time, during the next trip, Peter I saw the same village, only now clean, and said: "How clean it is here!" And since then the village began to be called Chistenky.
  • According to another version, at the beginning of the XIX century the land belonged to merchants named Chistov. They were humane people, all the while paying attention to the problems of the peasants. And in memory of these merchants after the reform of February 19, 1861, it was decided to name the settlement Chistenky.
