Mikhail Mikhailovich Gakhaev or Dorji Ubushayev (2.01.1858, Kelket, Manychsky ulus, Astrakhan province , Russian Empire - 1.03.1907, Russian Empire) - Kalmyk prince - Noyon , public figure, owner of the Bolshederbetovsky ulus, participant in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877 —1878, the founder of the village of Bashant (today - Gorodovikovsk ).

Biography
Dorji Ubushaev was born in 1858 in the family of Kalmyk Noyon. After his mother's death, he was given to the care of Major Aleksey Akhverdov, leader of the local nobility, in the care of Stavropol . Until the coming of age of the noyon, his guardian was the zaisang of the Bolshederbetovsky ulus Lapin Opoginov. After graduating from a private boarding house, Dorji Ubushaev joined the cavalry regiment. His Buddhist religion impeded his military service, so Dorji Ubushaev was baptized and became known as Mikhail Mikhailovich Gakhaev. The godfather of Mikhail became the Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich , who at that time was the governor of the Caucasus .
At a young age, assigning himself a year, Mikhail Gakhaev volunteered for the Russian-Turkish war . On September 5, 1877, Mikhail Gakhaev was enrolled in the 17th Dragoon Seversky of His Majesty the King of the Danish Regiment . He took part in the battles and on September 25, 1877 for the courage shown in the battle with the Turks, he was awarded the distinction of the Military Order of St. George 4th degree . During the war he was promoted to non-commissioned officer and later to ensign.
In 1878, he resigned and returned to Kalmykia. Mikhail Gakhaev was married to the daughter of General Peter Gotovitsky .
He was a large landowner and horse breeder. He owned thousands of acres of land in the vicinity of Bashant. In 1905, he rented 40 thousand acres of land from the Kalmyks of the Bolshederbetovsky ulus [1] . He took active charitable and social activities in the life of the Kalmyk people. He was an honorary guardian of the Kalmyk schools of the Bolshederbetovsky ulus. At the end of 1907 he founded an ulus hospital in Bashant [2] . He was engaged in the development of cattle breeding and forestry in Kalmykia. He was a large breeder. His horses took part in horse races arranged in various provinces of Russia.
Death
He died in 1907 at the age of 49 in Rostov-on-Don . There are various versions of his death. According to one version, he shot himself as a result of a major card loss. According to another version, they believe that an unknown person shot him. One version says that:
“Today, based on commercial calculations, Prince Gakhaev shot at the Nakhichevan merchant Terenty Karikash and seriously wounded him with two bullets. During the struggle with people who disarmed the prince, the latter, while continuing to shoot, mortally wounded himself ” [3] .
He was buried in Bashant. On the grave of Mikhail Gakhaev a monument was erected from grateful fellow countrymen, which was destroyed in the 30s of the XX century.
