Appearance
The creature had a bluish body, devoid of hair, with some spots on it in the face and neck. His height was about 12 cm. It had a protrusion in the forehead, elongated ears, red eyes and a nose similar to the nose of a rodent. Between the fingers there were interdigital membranes.
Discovery
According to the "official" version shown on Spanish television, the creature was captured by two vacationers about 11 km from Girona, on the way from the village of Banyoles to the city of Olot . They were next to the forest when one of them heard a noise like a soft moan. When he looked in the direction from which the noise came, he saw a creature that was trying to quickly escape from them into the forest. The sound he made was like "the laughter of an old man." Vacationers managed to capture him by throwing a blanket over him.
The creature remained alive for at least 24 hours after the capture, and according to another version - for four days. It refused any food offered to him, although, according to those who captured it, it showed a certain intellect. After the creature died, the Spanish parapsychologist Angel Gordon received his body and stored it in a formaldehyde jar.
Origin Versions
Photographs of the creature were published, and the American scientist John Altshuler and the Spanish doctor Luis Linares were involved in their study. After analyzing them, he came to the conclusion that the creature is real, but differs from all animals known to science. They expressed two versions: either this is a rare case of teratology of a known type that developed with a huge number of pathologies of tissues, organs and limbs, or, more likely, a creature unknown to science.
However, photographs were also analyzed by researcher Pedro Palao and a group of biologists from the Barcelona Zoo. They suggested that the creature could be a three-month-old fetus of a calf, somewhat “made-up”, that is, this whole story could be a simple hoax.
Later, researcher Francisco Contreras, also dealing with this issue, found that the vacationers named in the TV program Mario Ananos and Juan Pugliès, as well as Angel Gordon, did not actually exist, and the creature was found by Girona resident Manuel Tello. The creature was originally dead, Manuel Tello placed it in a jar of formaldehyde and took some photos. How the photographs reached the media is unclear. Contreras qualified the whole story as a dubious hoax.
