Ministry of Minorities of India

The Ministry of Minorities of India is responsible for the regulatory and development programs of the central government for minorities in India, including Muslims , Sikhs , Christians , Buddhists and Zoroastrians designated as minority communities in accordance with Section 2 of the National Minority Commission Act 1992 . As of May 2010, the head of the ministry is the cabinet minister Salman Khurshid. The Ministry also participates in the protection of linguistic minorities at the head of the Commissioner for Linguistic Minorities, the representation of the Anglo-Indian community, the protection and preservation of non-Muslim shrines in Pakistan and Muslim shrines in India according to the Pant Mirza Agreement of 1955, concluded in agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The responsible minister is the chairman of the Central Waqf Council of India, which runs the Council of State Waqfs.
