Tofalar script

Until 1988, the Tofalar language had no written language, and phonetic writing based on Latin and Russian graphics was used in the writings of researchers to write Tofalar texts. So, Valentin Rassadin , who later became the author of the Tofalar alphabet, in 1978, in his work “The morphology of the Tofalar language in comparative lighting” for the transcription of Tofalar words, adopted the entire Russian alphabet with the addition of additional characters, ӈ , ө , ү , ә , i . The basis of the transcription lay down the phonemic principle with elements of the morphological [1] , actually adopted when creating the official writing, adopted in 1988 with the following alphabet:

A aB bIn theGgҒ ғD dHerӘ ә

L lM mN NҢ ңOh ohӨ өN pP p
C sT tYҮ үF fXxҺ һC p
H hӋ ӌW wU uB bS youBUh
Yu YuI am i

The absence of additional characters in type and computer fonts led to the fact that in the 1980s-1990s, the Russian alphabet was used for typing Tofalar texts when typing, and the necessary elements of other letters, and even individual letters, were painted on by hand before printing.

Currently, the process of the formation of Tofalar writing continues. According to the 2005 Tofalar-Russian and Russian-Tofalar Dictionary, published in 2005, in its current form, the alphabet has 41 letters and is as follows [2] :
