Story
A young police officer, Peter Pascoe, is hired by the Yorkshire police in the homicide department. He becomes the partner of the head of the department Andrew Delsil, known for his barbed character. Pascoe is the exact opposite of Delzila - brought up, always gallant. Despite the inconsistency of the characters, their relationship develops into a strong male friendship.
Main characters
Andrew Delzil . A middle-aged police detective with a lot of experience, but without higher education. Head of the homicide. Professional, master in the disclosure of murder. Delzil was married, but his wife cheated on him and ran away with the milkman. She later gave birth to a son (there is an assumption that this is the son of Delzil). Delzil himself does not seem to be from Yorkshire, since in his youth he lived in a small neighborhood, where he was universally proud, since he was a rugby champion. His relations with the inhabitants of that neighborhood changed after a series of mining strikes, in the suppression of which he had to participate. Delzil has had several lengthy romances with women in his youth. It is considered the most cynical and witty policeman, but in reality it’s a very vulnerable and sincere person. He tries to help his partner Peter Pascoe in everything, trying to isolate him from his own mistakes. He is the godfather of Pascoe’s daughter, Rosie. Andrew has a sister, Harriet, who has not been in touch with him for many years.
Peter Pascoe . Young detective with higher education. Peter immediately became Andrew Delzila’s partner. Despite the fact that they often had skirmishes, Peter never regretted that he became Andrew's partner. Peter from the very beginning of his work developed a relationship with Ellie - a young teacher and writer. They soon got married, they had a daughter, Rosie. But the work of the policeman was strongly reflected in the relationship between Ellie and Peter, which led them to divorce. Ellie and her daughter moved to the USA where Ellie married again. After that, Peter had several short romances with women. Peter is very calm, he never has anger attacks. Tied to Delzila.
Aivar Novella . Young girl detective. The novella is very diligent, tactful. She is never angry at the blunt statements of her boss, realizing that they are not said to offend her. Some did not take Novell seriously, for example one of the temporary chiefs of the police department never listened to her words. It seems that Novella does not feel any emotions, but later it turns out that she was crazy about Peter Pascoe, and even wanted to get in touch with him.
Meg (Ed) Wilde . Young police detective. "Wilde," as his colleagues call him, a contentedly experienced cop. Some consider him too gloomy, although in fact he is a rather cheerful and kind person. Wildy is a secret homosexual, which is very ashamed of. In fact, Wildey is a very emotional person, he genuinely worries and rejoices for his colleagues. Colleagues trust him the most, with him, as a rule, discussing all their experiences (except Delzil, who only shares them with Peter). Wildy is very modest, and at the same time a lonely person.
There were also several other permanent characters in the television series: Constable Sanjay Sikh , Carrie "Tweed" Harris , Don "Spike" Milligan , Maria Jackson , Kim Posch , Detective Perves Latif , pathologist Frank and other police officers.
