Biography
Born December 11, 1850 in the city of Lowville , New York State in the family of Charles and Ann Arturov. At the age of 6, he moved with his family to Charles City in Iowa . Arthur entered Iowa College, in 1872 received a bachelor of science degree.
In 1876, he published a book on the flowering plants of Iowa. A year later, the College awarded him a Master of Science degree. In 1897, Joseph Charles studied at Johns Hopkins University , then at Harvard University . In 1886, he became a Ph.D. at Cornell University . Then he worked at the universities of Minnesota and Wisconsin .
In 1887, Arthur became a professor at Purdue University . In 1916, he received his doctorate in law from the University of Iowa . In 1920, he became a Ph.D. in Iowa College, and in 1931 at Purdue University.
Died April 30, 1942 in the city of Brook , Indiana .
