Contents
The action in the novel covers the time period from the 1960s to the 1990s. This is the story of a gay writer who survived most of his friends, his story about the years of life in New York , Rome and Paris , about the struggle for survival and the quest for recognition. An overview of the cultural life of Manhattan is combined in the novel with backstage scenes of sex and sadomasochism .
Allusions
The name of the novel is an allusion to the farewell symphony of Joseph Haydn , during the performance of which the musicians leave the stage one by one until one violin remains and continues to play. [2] [1]
