Balakayev, Alexey Guchinovic

Alexey Balakayev was born on February 10, 1928 in the village of Shikirt (now the Nariman District , Astrakhan Region ). In 1941, Alexei Balakayev began his career in the local collective farm. In 1943, during the deportation of Kalmyks , he was exiled to Siberia . During his exile he studied at the Krasnoyarsk art school named after V. Surikov. He worked as a drawing teacher at school number 33 of Chernorechenskaya station (now Novochernorechensky settlement). At the same time began to engage in literary activities. He was assisted by the Siberian writer Sergey Sartakov , who contributed to the publication on December 19, 1948 of a note “First steps” about the life of Siberians in the newspaper Krasnoyarsk Worker .

After returning to Kalmykia in 1957, Alexey Balakayev began working as a literary staff in the newspaper Halmg Unn , and later as the editor of the Kalmyk book publishing house .

In 1961 he graduated from Elista Pedagogical School.

In 1963, Aleksey Balakayev graduated from the highest literary courses at the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute . In 1969 he graduated from the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute. In 1975 - the highest courses of drama at GITIS .

In 1992 he was awarded the title of People's Writer of Kalmykia.

Balakayev is known in Kalmyk literature as the author of the book “Elst Deers Mandlesn One” (The Star above Elista) - the first Kalmyk novel about the life of the working class, and the story “ Three Drawings ” - about the deportation of the Kalmyk people .

In the last years of his life engaged in drama . His play “Itkl” (Loyalty) was staged in 1964 on the stage of the Kalmyk Drama Theater . Balakayev created the libretto of the first Kalmyk musical comedy "Elstin Waltz" (Elista Waltz).

In 1957, being a guest for three days at Dzhangarchi Davy Shavaliev , he recorded Kalmyk yurl ( good wishes ) from his lips, which were published as a separate book in 1960.

He translated the Kalmyk language of poems by Yakub Kolas , Nikolai Ostrovsky’s book How the Steel Was Hardened .

Alexei Balakayev was repeatedly elected deputy of the Supreme Council of the Kalmyk ASSR, participated in the Commission on Jangarology , was a member of the Commission on Culture and Tradition, member of the board of the “Update” writers' organization.
