Bakhtin, Ivan Pavlovich

Ivan Pavlovich Bakhtin ( July 9 [22], 1910 - January 25, 1994 ) - Soviet military pilot, participant in the Great Patriotic War as commander of the 190th assault aviation regiment of the 214th assault aviation division of the 15th air army of the Leningrad front , lieutenant colonel [1] .

Biography

He was born on July 9 (22), 1910 in the village of Romashi, now Lebyazhsky District, Kirov Region, into a peasant family. Russian He graduated from junior high school. He worked as a teacher in the village of Tuzh , now an urban-type village of the Kirov region.

In 1930 he was drafted into the Red Army . In 1932 he graduated from the Borisoglebsk military school of pilots. He served in combat units as a junior pilot, flight commander , squadron commander, squad leader. In 1940 he joined the CPSU (b) .

In 1942 he graduated from the crash course of the Air Force Academy and from November 1942 he was in the army. The combat path began with the squadron commander in the 622th assault aviation regiment, then in the 190th assault aviation regiment.

He distinguished himself in the first sorties near Stalingrad, drove a group of Il-2 attack aircraft to combat missions. In January 1943, Captain Bakhtin was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky for brave and decisive actions to storm the enemy’s Salsky airfield and inflict significant losses on the enemy.

In 1943 he was appointed commander of the 190th assault aviation regiment of the 214th assault aviation division . The regiment under his command fought as part of the troops of the Southern , North Caucasian Fronts and the Separate Primorsky Army . He participated in the battles for the liberation of Crimea . In the summer of 1944 - the Baltic states .

In the summer of 1944, the 214th Kerch Assault Aviation Division was transferred to the 15th Air Army of the 2nd Baltic then Leningrad Fronts. The 190th assault aviation regiment under the command of Major Bakhtin took an active part in offensive operations to liberate the Baltic states. On August 9, 1944, for the differences in the battles for the seizure of the cities of Daugavpils (Dvinsk) and Rezekne (Rezhitsa), the regiment was given the honorary name of Dvinsky.

During his stay at the front, by May 1945, Lt. Col. Bakhtin made 102 successful sorties to attack the enemy’s manpower and equipment, skillfully led the regiment’s operations.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 18, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command assignments and for the courage and heroism shown in battles with German invaders, Lieutenant Colonel Bakhtin Ivan Pavlovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 8593).

Since 1946, Colonel Bakhtin - in stock. He lived in the city of Moscow . He worked in the Main Directorate of the Civil Air Fleet of the USSR. He died on January 25, 1994.
