Ngultrum ( dzong-ke : དངུལ་ ཀྲམ , pronounced ngultram ) is the monetary unit of the Kingdom of Bhutan . The official currency of the kingdom since 1974 (before that, the currency of Bhutan was the Bhutanese rupee , although sometimes the modern Ngultrum is called the "Bhutan rupee").

1 ngultrum consists of 100 chetrum . The ISO 4217 ngultrum code is BTN, the symbol is Nu, the chetrum symbol is Ch.
Coins of 20, 25, 50 chetrum and 1 ngultrum are in circulation, rarely, but coins of 5 and 10 chetrum are also used. Banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 ngultrum are in circulation.

In 2014, banknotes of 1 and 10 ngultums of a new sample were issued, made of a hybrid (paper-polymer) composition [1] .
