Biography

Enrique Vidalier was a pupil of Boca Juniors. He appeared on the youth team at a time when the goalkeeper Antonio Roma was the undisputed first number. Gradually, the young goalkeeper began to be given a chance to prove himself, but to compete with Roma was possible only if he was injured. In addition, the team had another experienced goalkeeper Ruben Sanchez . With the latter, Vidalier resisted the competition and at some point even became the main goalkeeper of Boca (Metropolitano 1975), but after Roma completed his career, the Boca leadership decided to acquire Hugo Gatti , who would later become one of the club's legends. In addition, Vidalier in one of the matches in a collision with an opponent broke his jaw.

I got a ticket to life (in "Bokeh"). I left with warm memories of this great team, the fans, the title of the winner of the tournament in Viareggio , the challenge to the Argentine national team. I was sorry to leave Boka, but there was no other choice.

After leaving Boca, Vidalier performed in the Chilean Palestino, then in Gimnasia from La Plata , Estudiantes and Huracan. But Vidalier achieved the greatest successes in his club career at the end of his career, after moving to Argentinos Juniors. In 1984 and 1985, he helped the Red Beetles win two Argentina championships. Thanks to the first title, Argentinos got into the Libertadores Cup, in which they reached the final and managed to beat the Colombian America Cali in the penalty shootout . Vidalier managed to repel two penalties [1] . This is to this day the most high-profile victory in the international arena of the club, which brought up a whole scattering of stars of Argentine and world football. In 1985, Vidalier set a club record for the number of minutes without goals conceded - 550. He was able to beat Nicolas Navarro only in April 2011 with an indicator of 558 minutes [2] .

Then the “Red Beetles” lost only Juventus in the penalty shootout and won the Inter-American Cup in 1986. He completed his career in Vidalier in 1988.

In 1971, Enrique Vidalier won the Pan American Cup in the Argentinean youth team . In 1979, he spent 6 matches for the national team of Argentina. Vidalier was the main goalkeeper for the America's Cup that year.
