The German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture ( German: Bundesministerium für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft , BMEL ) - one of the German ministries, was created as the Federal Ministry of Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture on January 22, 2001 from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forests through organizational order of the chancellor . Consumer protection was given by the Federal Ministry of Health.

Management Structure
The ministry is divided into six departments:
- Division 1: Central Office;
- Division 2: Food Policy, Product Safety and Innovation ;
- Division 3: Food Safety and Animal Health;
- Division 4: Rural areas, incentives, agricultural markets;
- Division 5: Bioeconomics based on sustainable agriculture and forestry ;
- Division 6: EU policy, international cooperation , fisheries .
