History
The ministry was created in 2010 as a result of the restructuring of the Georgian government in June 2010. The previous Ministry of Culture, Monument Protection and Sports was divided into two separate state institutions: the Ministry of Sport and Youth and the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection. The division was made relevant in connection with the growing importance of sports among young people in Georgia. In 2010, the government allocated GEL 29.2364 billion to the ministry, in 2011 - 30.9276 billion.
