History
The current ministry was created on August 23, 1995 with the adoption of Proclamation 4-1995, which also created 14 other ministries. Its organizational structure includes: a minister, two state ministers, eight cabinet ministers, 13 main departments and 42 diplomatic missions abroad. The previous Foreign Minister was Deputy Prime Minister Hailemariam Desaleni , who received his portfolio after the 2010 general election. Ethiopia’s Foreign Ministry is currently led by Dr. Tedros Adan Gebreisus.
