Biography
As an athlete he advocated for the sports society "Trud", becoming a coach, he was one of the organizers of boxing in the Kuban.
In 1980-1988, he was the head coach of the USSR State Sports Committee . Under his leadership, the USSR team at the European Championships 1981 , 1983 , 1985 , 1987 - took first places. At the 1982 World Cup - 3rd place, at the 1986 World Cup - 4th place. He led the USSR national team at the Summer Games in Seoul (1988). However, there the team, taking into account the boycott of the competition by the athletes of Cuba, performed unsuccessfully, and he was dismissed.
Since 1990, he worked under a contract in Turkey . Largely thanks to his work, the first Turkish world champion Sinan Samil Sam appeared in 1999, and at the 1996 Olympics, Malik Beyleroglu became the silver medalist.
In 1997 he returned to coaching in Krasnodar .
Many of his students successfully performed at major international competitions. Among them: European champion, five-time USSR champion Alexander Izosimov, champion of the Olympic Games in Moscow (1980) Shamil Sabirov . He played a large role in the formation of boxers Denis Lebedev and Dmitry Pirog .
