Talas Valley

Talas lobbies ( Kyrgyz. Talas өrөөn меж ) - intermountain depression in the Northern Tien Shan , mainly in Kyrgyzstan . Located between the Kyrgyz Range in the north and Talas Ala-Too in the south.

The valley lies at an altitude of 600-2000 m. Its length is about 250 km. The Talas River flows along the bottom of the basin. The slopes and the root bottom are composed of schists , sandstones , limestones with granite intrusions . Semi-desert , dry-steppe and steppe landscapes dominate; on a flat bottom of the valley and cones of the outflow of tributaries of Talas - oasis lands. In the Talas Valley, there is the city ​​of Talas , near which the Battle of Talas took place in 751 .
