The massif includes a number of lava cones, severely eroded by erosion , the highest of which is Sansi (1886 m). The last eruptions of Mont-Dore occurred in the Neogene . There are traces of ancient glaciation . Mountain meadows and shrubs , there are small areas of pine forests . The population is engaged in sheep farming .
