Biography
Benjamin Walker Davis was born in 1982 in Cartersville, Georgia. After graduating from high school, he studied at the Academy of Arts in Michigan. In 2004, he completed acting classes at the Juilliard School in New York. For some time he performed in comedy shows in New York and Los Angeles.
In February 2007, he played Bertram Cates in the Broadway production of "Reap the Storm" at the Lyceum Theater. In April 2008, Benjamin appeared in the role of Chevalier Denseny in the production of “Dangerous Liaisons” on the stage of the Roundabout Theater. Among Benjamin's other theatrical works: “The Arrangements” of the Atlantic Theater Community, several productions on the stage of the Lincoln Theater, “Lady Windermere's Fan” and “Romeo and Juliet” at the Williams Town Theater Festival [2] .
Benjamin also played Andrew Jackson, the lead role in the musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. For the sake of this role, he refused to participate in the film " X-Men: First Class " in the role of the Beast.
In 2012, he starred in the movie “ President Lincoln: The Vampire Hunter ” [3] , and in 2015, in the movie “ In the Heart of the Sea ” [4] .
Personal life
July 16, 2011 Benjamin married actress Mamie Gummer [5] . In March 2013, the couple filed for divorce [6] .
In April 2014, he began dating actress Kaya Scodelario . Their engagement took place on December 28, 2014, and at the end of 2015 the couple got married [7] . At the end of November 2016, the couple had a son [8] .
