Career
Club
A pupil of the football school teams "Mattsee" and " Munich 1860 ". He studied at the Munich Academy from 2001 to 2006, made his first debut in the amateur team in the 2006/2007 season in the regional league South. Nominally in the 2007/2008 season he was not declared for the main team, but on November 12, 2007 he made his debut in the home game with the Mönchengladbach Borussia . Since the summer of 2008, he has been part of the club’s application, by 2009 he had played 13 matches in the first team. In the summer of 2009 he returned to Austria and signed a contract with the Vienna Austria until 2012 (the debut came on July 24, 2009 against LASK and ended in a 5-4 victory), but two years later he canceled the agreement ahead of schedule and left for the German Bundesliga in Mainz 05 [1] [2] .
May 19, 2016 Baumgartlinger signed a four-year contract with Leverkusen Bayer , which paid 4 million euros for the transfer of the Austrian footballer [3] .
Team
He played for all Austrian national teams, starting from 16 years old, held 43 meetings for junior teams. In the national team until the age of 21 in 2009 he was captain. He made his debut in the main on September 9, 2009 in a game with Romania in the qualifying match for the 2010 World Cup [4] .
