She performed the song “Igår, idag” and took third place. She returned to the contest in 2003 and finished fifth with the song “Hela världen för mig”. The third participation of Sanna took place in 2005, she performed with the song “Du och jag mot världen” in a duet with Fredrik Schempe and became the eighth.

[7] In 2007, she took part in Melodifestivalene for the fourth time (finishing seventh with the song “Vågar du, vågar jag”) [8] and released her first compilation album Sanna 11-22 . [9] Also in the summer of 2007, Sanna toured Sweden with the Tre S trio along with Shirley Clamp and Sonya Alden.

In 2008, the fifth participation of Sanna in the Melodifestivalen took place. On February 16, Sanna performed in the second semi-final with the song “Empty room”, took first place with a margin of more than thirty thousand votes and went to the final of the competition. [10] On March 15, in the final, Sanna beat Charlotte Perelli by a spectator vote of more than fifty thousand votes, but after the jury voted, Perelli became the winner, and Nielsen dropped to second place. [11] Later, the Empty room won the OGAE Second Chance Contest with an advantage of 91 points. Also in 2008, Nielsen released her first English album Stronger , which reached number one on the national charts. [12]

In 2011, another participation of Sanna in the Melodifestivalen took place. Speaking in the second semi-final with the song “I'm in love”, she took first place and went to the finals, [13] where a month later she finished fourth. [14] Also in 2011, Nielsen released the fifth album under the same name as the competition song. [15]

In 2014, Sanna Nielsen returned for the seventh time to the Melodifestival. In the second semifinal, she performed the song “Undo”, the audience supported Sanna, which allowed her to take one of the vacant places in the final. On March 8, Sanna Nielsen performs at number 8 in the 2014 Melodifestivalen finale with the song “Undo”. Having scored 90 points from the international jury and 122 from viewers, Sanna wins the competition and becomes the representative of Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 . At the same time, the gap between Sanna and Ace Wilder, who finished second with the song "Busy Doin 'Nothing," was only two points, despite the fact that Ace won the international jury.
