Jeffrey (Jeff) Thomas Alu ( born Jeffrey "Jeff" Thomas Alu ) is an American musician and composer , photographer , graphic artist and amateur astronomer , discoverer of comets and asteroids, who participated in the PCAS search for asteroids. In the period 1987 to 1993, a total of 24 numbered asteroids , as well as several near-earth ones, were discovered in the Palomar Observatory [1] . Also, together with his colleagues Eleanor Helin and Brian P. Roman, he discovered two short-period comets 117P / Helin-Roman-Alu (Polish) [2] and 132P / Helin-Roman-Alu .

From 1984 to 1986, he studied at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester . He deepened his knowledge there at Chapman University (English) in the city of Orange , where he studied from 1989 to 1992 and who graduated with a bachelor 's degree in music. From February 1991 to April 1993, he worked as a research assistant at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena , California , but since 1993 he set up his own graphics and animation company in Irvine , California and began working in it.
In recognition of his achievements, one of the asteroids was given his name (4104) Alu [3] .
