Career
He started playing football in the youth section of Steaua . He played for the leading Romanian clubs: Wiversitatia and Steaua. In 1979, he was recognized in Romania as the footballer of the year. After 1983, the player’s career went downward and was completed in the 1988/89 season as part of the Siretul club when he was 37 years old.
As part of the national team, he played 49 games, making his debut in a friendly match with the USSR footballers in 1973. However, he did not play in the finals of major tournaments, since Romania at that time could not overcome the qualification barrier.
At the end of his career, he worked with the youth team of Steaua for almost ten years (1992-2011), but due to financial problems at the club, he, along with a number of other coaches, was fired. The loss of work led to a serious illness and premature death of the famous football player.
