The length of the glacier is 10.1 km, the area is 28.8 km². The feeding area is located at heights of up to 4150 m and at the ridge joins the firn basin of the Bezengi glacier , flowing to the north. The firm line lies at an altitude of 3190 m; the tongue descends to 2390 m and gives rise to the Zanner River, the left component of the Mulkhura River [1] ( Inguri basin). Since the beginning of the 20th century, the end of the glacier receded 1.5 km; this process is ongoing.

The name of the glacier from Svan is translated as "sky" [3] .
