Like other Russian nobles, the Griboedovs attributed to themselves a foreign origin. According to family tradition, Jan Grzybowski left Poland for Russia at the beginning of the 17th century . His descendants began to be written by the Griboedovs.
Fyodor Iakimovich Griboedov - a bit clerk, compiled the "History of the Tsars and Grand Dukes of the Russian land" [2] . His son Semyon was a streltsy colonel under Princess Sophia. Among his descendants belonged Alexander Sergeyevich Griboedov , the author of “ Woe from Wit ” [1] [3] .
Another industry of this kind comes from Mikhail Efimovich Griboedov, granted by estates under Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich . Both of these branches of the Griboedovs died out by the beginning of the 19th century , and two more genera of this family were of a later origin [1] ; they were recorded in the genealogy books of Kazan [4] and Moscow province [2] .
When submitting documents in 1686, for the introduction of the genus in the Velvet Book , the genealogy of the Griboedovs was provided [5] .
