Sri Lanka Post (from the English - “ Post of Sri Lanka ”) is the postal department of Sri Lanka , acting as the state postal administration and postal operator of this country.

Description
The current state postal service of Sri Lanka is subordinate to the . Previously, she was in the office of the Ceylon Post and Telecommunications Department and the Ministry of Postal Services , while being the oldest existing state institution in the country [1] .
As of 2017, the Post of Sri Lanka was headed by D.L. P. Rohan Abeyaratne ( DLP Rohana Abeyaratne ), whose position is called the postmaster general of Sri Lanka . He is assisted by deputies in each province [2] .
In total, more than are employed at the post office of the country 19 000 employees. There are 4,692 post offices throughout the island [3] .
Today, Sri Lanka Post uses its own fleet of Japanese cars painted in traditional red. Mail is also transported by rail , public and private buses [1] .
General Post Office
The headquarters of the postal administration of Sri Lanka is the main post office located in the city of Colombo . This new nine-story building, equipped with modern technology, is the administrative center of the department, in which a significant part of the work is done. History
The development of postal services in Ceylon (Sri Lanka since 1972) is conditionally divided into two main historical periods - the British colonial administration and an independent state, in each of which emissions of their own postage stamps were carried out.
